So many of us use herbs and vegetables from our gardens for regular daily cooking. It is much more practical to plant these species close together for fast picking. When you throw a fresh tomato salad, it's so convenient to have the tomatoes, green onions and basil planted close together. Everything you need to do is choose, throw in a bowl Add a little olive oil and your salad is ready to go. All you have to deal with is that all these plants grow in the same relative proportions.

Pizza Garden

Pie Garden

Imagine making a pie from berries and fruits plucked straight out of the door. Easy breeders include:

Blueberries and currant bushes: Plant a series, like a hedge.

Strawberries: They are great planted in a container on a slope with ground cover, or in rows as a decorative border. In the spring they will be covered with white flowers and in autumn the leaves will change to a beautiful reddish brown hue.

Rhubarb: This can be planted directly into your flower bed or alongside purple leaved Ajuga, or other ground cover plants.

Raspberries: When you start these hardy plants they will grow like weeds. Be sure to select the still bear species that produce fruit from midsummer to frost. They grow well in light to medium shade, so will not take all your sunny garden real estate.
